Important — Read Before Startup: 2026 Packaged Refrigeration System

Due to the changing refrigerant models under new Freon regulations and updated guidelines, it is critical that you completely read all startup instructions before using your packaged refrigeration system. Please be sure you understand your startup settings and the proper overflow and humidity drainage ports, which require hose adapters.

Condensation Drain Requirement

All 2026 Heatcraft compressors require a drain hose attached to the drain port for condensation, to maximize energy efficiency. Connect the supplied drain line to the drain port before startup.

External Drain Connection

In high-humidity environments or during continuous heavy run-times, the unit may experience overflow. To prevent this, the indoor unit is equipped with a 3/4″ NPT external drain connection that can be routed to an external drain line or a field-supplied condensate pump.

Internal Re-Evaporation

Indoor PRO³ models include a hot-gas re-evaporation pan beneath the compressor, which uses hot refrigerant gas to evaporate condensation naturally during normal operation.

2026 and Forward — Heatcraft PRO³

2026 and later packaged Heatcraft PRO³ systems include many new features made possible by an extremely high-efficiency process. Reviewing the startup documentation ensures these systems perform as designed.

American Mortuary Coolers accepts no liability or responsibility for a customer's failure to properly start up the new AW2 fully packaged, plug-in refrigeration units. If you have specific questions regarding functions and operations, please reach out prior to ordering.

Why three doors, engineering & cot compatibility

Why three doors: three-door access is the cold-loss control answer to 12-body density. A single-door 12-body cabinet loses the entire compartment to ambient on every retrieval — triple-door isolates each retrieval to a 4-body compartment, which matters at high case-cycle facilities where door open events run 15–30 times per shift. The independent compartments also allow zone segregation — active case holding in one zone, long-term storage in another, hold-for-pickup in the third.

Refrigeration and engineering: at 12-body capacity the refrigeration load tier strongly favors remote-split Copeland scroll or Heatcraft systems with outdoor condensing units. The custom-built line handles remote-condenser configurations. ASTM E84 Class A flame spread matters under county morgue requirements and state body-storage code.

Where it fits: the top of the upright cooler line. Step down to the 10 Body Dual-Door Upright or the 6 Body Dual-Door. When floor area allows a walk-in, the 8×16 walk-in (14-body) and 10×16 walk-in (14-body) offer comparable capacity. Sizing methodology: size guide.

Cot compatibility: cot-direct roll-in for the 500E, PRO 650X, and 1000E Bariatric cots through any of the three compartment doors. For racked load-out, see racks and lifts.

Frequently asked questions

How many bodies does the 12-Body Triple-Door cooler hold?

Twelve cadavers across three independent 4-body compartments.

Why triple-door instead of single-door?

Triple-door isolates each retrieval to a 4-body compartment, controlling cold loss per door event. Single-door 12-body cabinets lose the entire compartment to ambient on every retrieval.

Do I need a drain line?

In high-humidity or high-temperature environments, yes — attach a hose to the external drain connection and route to a drainage source. Full details on the packaged refrigeration manuals page.

What’s the lead time?

4–6 weeks. Built-to-order — door handing, refrigeration configuration, and finish specified at quote.

What temperature does it maintain?

34–40°F body holding standard across all three compartments.

How does it compare to MOBI and Mopec 12-body uprights?

Factory-direct pricing, American manufacturing, faster lead times, three-door cold-loss control, 15-year panel warranty. See the MOBI vs AMC comparison.

Can it be financed?

Yes. 0% Shop Pay Installments at checkout for qualified buyers. Order qualifies for extended financing. Net terms available for institutional and government buyers.

Where is it manufactured?

Johnson City, Tennessee. American Mortuary Coolers, family-owned since 2009, A+ Rated by the Better Business Bureau.
